1. Who we are

Swiss90 is an online platform that helps English-speaking people move to Switzerland. The service is operated by Swiss90 ("we", "us", "our"). We are the data controller for the personal data you share with us.

Our processing of personal data is governed by the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (nFADP / revDSG). Because many of our users are EU residents or EU nationals, we also follow the principles of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) where applicable.

2. What data we collect

Account data

When you sign up — either directly or via Google — we receive your name and email address. This is the minimum needed to create your account and send you important notifications.

Household data

To personalise your checklist we ask for information about your move: arrival date, canton, city, nationalities, employment type, whether you have children or pets, and your priorities. This data is stored against your household account and is not shared with third parties unless you request it (see section 5).

Usage data

If you accept analytics cookies, we collect information about how you use Swiss90: pages visited, features clicked, session duration, and session recordings. This helps us understand what's working and what to improve. We use Mixpanel for this (see section 4).

Contact data

If you submit an enquiry to a service provider listed in our directory, we ask for a name and email address. We use these to forward your message to the provider. This always requires your explicit confirmation.

3. Why we process your data (legal basis)

  • Contract performance: Account data and household data are processed to provide the checklist service you signed up for.
  • Consent: Analytics and session recording via Mixpanel are only processed after you accept our cookie banner. You can withdraw consent at any time by clearing your browser's local storage or contacting us.
  • Legitimate interest: Basic security logging and fraud prevention.
  • Your explicit request: Forwarding your contact details to a service provider is done only when you tick the confirmation checkbox on the enquiry form.

4. Third-party services we use

Google (OAuth login)

If you choose "Sign in with Google", Google authenticates you and shares your name and email address with us. Google's own privacy policy governs how they handle your data on their side.

Mixpanel (analytics & session recording)

We use Mixpanel to understand how people use Swiss90. Mixpanel records page views, feature interactions, and — with your consent — session replays (mouse movements, clicks, scrolling). Mixpanel stores data on EU servers. Mixpanel is only loaded after you accept our cookie banner. If you decline, no analytics data is collected and Mixpanel is never initialised.

You can opt out of Mixpanel tracking at any time at mixpanel.com/optout.

Google Fonts

We load fonts from Google Fonts CDN, which may log your IP address to serve the font files. You can read Google's privacy policy for more detail.

Sevalla (hosting)

Our servers run on Sevalla.com, a managed cloud platform. Your data is stored on their infrastructure. Sevalla processes data as a data processor on our behalf.

5. Sharing your data with service providers

Our directory lists vetted English-speaking service providers (doctors, insurance brokers, tax advisors, and more). We never share your data with these providers automatically.

When you submit an enquiry to a provider, we will show you a clear confirmation checkbox explaining that your name and email address will be included in an email sent by Swiss90 to that provider. We only send that email after you tick the box and submit the form.

We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with advertisers.

6. Cookies and local storage

  • Session cookie: A secure, HTTP-only cookie that keeps you logged in. Set when you sign in, deleted when you sign out or after 30 days of inactivity. This cookie is essential — the site cannot function without it.
  • Analytics cookies (Mixpanel): Only set after you accept our cookie banner. Used to identify returning visitors and stitch together sessions. You can decline these without losing any functionality.
  • Consent preference (localStorage): A single key (s90_cookie_consent) stored in your browser's local storage to remember your cookie choice. This is not a cookie; it stays on your device and is never sent to our servers.

7. How long we keep your data

  • Account and household data: kept while your account is active, and for up to 12 months after you delete your account (in case you change your mind).
  • Enquiry records: kept for 24 months for your reference, then deleted.
  • Analytics data: governed by Mixpanel's retention policy (typically 5 years, configurable).
  • Server logs: 90 days, then automatically purged.

8. Your rights

Under Swiss nFADP and GDPR you have the right to:

  • Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction — ask us to fix inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Deletion — ask us to delete your account and associated data.
  • Portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • Withdraw consent — opt out of analytics at any time by declining cookies in the banner or contacting us.
  • Object — object to processing based on legitimate interest.

To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days.

9. Security

All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Passwords are never stored in plain text. Access to production data is restricted to authorised personnel. We conduct regular security reviews.

10. Children's privacy

Swiss90 is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We'll note the date at the top of the page. For material changes we'll notify registered users by email.

12. Contact us

Questions, requests, or complaints: [email protected].

If you're not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) at edoeb.admin.ch.
